How Joy Transforms Your Business

Common questions about AI receptionists

The things people actually ask us before they sign up.

How much does an AI receptionist cost?

In Australia, typically $149 to $699 a month plus a setup fee somewhere between nothing and about $1,000. Most trade and service businesses end up in the $200 to $300 band, which is where appointment booking and CRM connection usually start.

Watch for per-minute call charges on top of the monthly fee. They are what turn a cheap plan into an expensive one. We break it all down in what an AI receptionist actually costs in Australia.

What does an AI receptionist actually do?

It answers inbound calls, asks the questions you would ask, books appointments straight into your calendar, and passes urgent or complicated calls through to you with the details already taken.

Joy also handles what happens afterwards, including quote follow-ups, appointment reminders and review requests. That part is where most of the recovered work comes from.

Will my customers know it is not a person?

Some will. Joy introduces herself as an assistant rather than pretending otherwise. For most callers, getting a straight answer at 7pm on a Friday matters more than who picked up.

What happens if it cannot answer something?

It takes the caller's details, tells them someone will ring back, and texts you straight away with the summary. You decide how quickly you call. Nothing goes to voicemail and disappears.

Can it use my existing phone number?

Yes. We either divert your existing number across, or set it to pick up only the calls you have not answered within a few rings. Most businesses start on overflow and move from there.

What will it not do?

It will not handle a genuinely complicated call. If someone is describing a strange fault or arguing about an invoice, it takes the details and passes it to you.

It also will not fix a business that does not ring people back. If it books ten jobs and you turn up to six, the AI is not the problem.
